"Abigail" Review

Another vampire film is playing in your local theatre. Not just any old vampire film though, this one is called "Abigail"!

The trailer kinda made this look like a "House On Haunted Hill" film noir type of flick. A group of criminals kidnap the little daughter of a crime syndicate boss. They hold her for ransom at this creepy, gothic and isolated mansion of sorts in the middle of nowhere. Each criminal will receive millions if the ransom is paid. This is where the "film noir" aspect comes into play. In "film noir" the criminals rarely get away with the crime and if they do, they bear serious consequences. The twist here is that the "little girl" they kidnap happens to be a "VAMPIRE"! All "hell" breaks loose literally.

If you are a horror fan and love vampire movies, you'll enjoy "Abigail". It's not bad, but the film could've been better, shorter and the ending more satisfying. The preview made this look like it would be fun to watch. Unfortunately, other than Alisha Weir (the little girl who plays Abigail), Giancarlo Esposito (who has too little screen time) and Dan Stevens (the head of the criminals), every one else seems to be taking this way too seriously. The climax was very underwhelming to say the least.
