Ben’s Fund announces the 13th Baskets for Ben fundraiser to be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Queensbury VFW Post 6196 at 32 Luzerne Road beginning 4:30pm until 7:30pm.  Auctioneer Roy Ross will lead our live auction of diversely themed baskets, which includes the return of the popular Wheelbarrow of Wines, a custom-made Enhanced Adirondack Firepit worth $500 forged by Monahan Metals.  Other baskets will include golf packages, lottery tickets, a GF Symphony gift card, automotive supply gift packages, resort hotel stays, goods from local restaurants and more.  Plus hot appetizers, desserts, entertainment and a cash bar.

Tickets are $20.

All proceeds benefit Ben’s Fund, a regional 501 C3 charitable organization created in loving memory of CPL Benjamin D. Osborn of Queensbury.  Ben, a Lake George High School graduate, was killed during combat operations in Kunar Province, Afghanistan on June 15, 2010 while serving in the U.S. Army during Operation Enduring Freedom.

This event is gratefully sponsored by Froggy 100.3 along with their sister stations of Adirondack Broadcasting of Glens Falls & Look TV of Glens Falls and Saratoga.

BEN’S FUND HAS HELPED THOUSANDS OF KIDS!

Since November, 2010, Ben’s Fund has supported children with need in conjunction with 64 schools in Warren, Washington, Saratoga and Essex Counties by providing purchased goods & services including electronics, clothing, bedding, food, tutoring, school supplies, eyeglasses, transportation costs, field trip expenses along with 20 scholarships each year.  We donate household and personal care items to 12 local food pantries and 27 local charities and organizations.

At Christmas and Thanksgiving, Ben’s Fund adopts students and families for gift giving, food & holiday cheer.  We provide clothing, healthy snacks, blankets and head lice kits to school nurses along with Personal Hygiene Kits to emerging teens in schools – nearly 5,000 so far.  Our literacy program provides books to kids anytime and all the time through our 27 Ben’s Book Stations.

Our latest initiative, Ben’s Environmental Program, invites school children to give back to their communities by participating in a Clean-Up Crew.   Kids in 6 towns, in conjunction with their schools, will be outfitted with safety gear and litter pick-up tools to tidy the roads of debris.  We’re starting with 20 miles and hope to eventually achieve 100 miles.

It is our mission and hope that the values of Discipline and Pride will be encouraged and passed on through Ben’s legacy.  In honoring Ben Osborn, whose selfless sacrifice and service to our country has inspired us, we wish to help by “Giving Kids  a Little Lift.”  We welcome all and ask your help to continue our mission of helping local children with need.
