Films that turn 75 years old this year!

1949! That was a year before my father was born. My grandparents were 15 years old!

I recently recorded a podcast with my co-host, where we discussed this amazing year in cinema. Here are the films that I chose to discuss:

"The Invisible Man Appears"-This little seen sci-fi/horror film (with echoes of the Universal Studios film & H.G. Wells novel) was made in Post-War Japan during The Allied Occupation of Japan. This film was never seen outside of Japan apparently until the 2021 home video release from Arrow Films!

"White Heat"- James Cagney's comeback role in the genre that defined his career, The Gangster Picture! It proved to be a HUGE success and one of the finest performances (and memorable) of his career!

"Kind Hearts & Coronets"- A cult classic/dark comedy which features the great Alec Guinness in eight different film roles!!! A must see for anyone who loves British cinema!

"The Third Man"-Easily one of my top 250 films of all time! One of the greatest suspense thrillers (and one of the most influential) and has a doozy of a finale! Not to be missed!

"Stray Dog"- One of the earliest "buddy cop" films and Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa's second masterpiece (6th film) about a rookie cop who teams up with a seasoned veteran to find his stolen gun! What an incredible premise and makes for an unforgettable film!
