Led Zeppelin II released this week in 1969!

The year 1969 was a very good one for the emerging band Led Zeppelin! In that year they released their first two albums which are both viewed as absolute classics! Led Zeppelin's debut self titled album was released in January...followed by Led Zeppelin II in October. Led Zeppelin was born out of the ashes of the 1960's band The Yardbirds who disbanded in 1968. Some members of The Yardbirds went on to form the Progressive Folk Rock band Renaissance who just appeared in Albany last week and Yardbird's guitarist Jimmy Page was left with the legal rights to The Yardbirds name. He immediately began to rebuild the band with the musicians that would eventually collectively be known as Led Zeppelin...although initially they were briefly known as The New Yardbirds...before releasing the first Led Zeppelin album in January, 1969. Recording for the Led Zeppelin II took place from April to August in 1969 and the record is considered to be Led Zeppelin's heaviest album. The record almost immediately went to #1 on both The US and The UK album charts...and it also spawned the hit single ""Whole Lotta Love" which went to #4 on the Billboard singles chart and is Led Zeppelin's most successful hit single. All nine tracks on the record have received FM Rock radio airplay over the years and continue to do so...
