I wanted to see a film on the big screen that wasn't a sequel, re-boot or another addition to another franchise.

The only one that was within driving or walking distance was Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut, "Blink Twice"! A satire/thriller/horror film co-produced, co-written and directed by the daughter of musician/actor Lenny Kravitz and actress, Lisa Bonet. 

The plot is simple: A cocktail waitress and her best friend are invited to a disgraced former tech CEO. billionaire's (Channing Tatum cast against type) private island for a vacation. Non-stop partying at night turns into day after day until strange things start happening which forces the waitress to start questioning what is happening and more importantly, is it real?

That is all I'm going to reveal as there are some pretty significant plot twists that you may not see coming! It's a decent enough debut from Kravitz and even thought it kind of falls apart at the end, it is worth watching at least once!
