Movie Review-Terrifier 3

"Terrifier" & Art The Clown are one of two original horror franchises in this century! (The Other being "X" and Pearl/Maxxxine").

Damian Leone introduced us to Art The Clown, WAY back in 2006 with a short called "The 9th Circle"! This along with other shorts became an anthology film called "All Hallows' Eve" in 2013! Fast forward to 2016, Leone co-produced, wrote, directed, and edited (also did Art's makeup too apparently) the first official "Terrifier" film. I first became aware of the film in 2022 as there was a massive fan funded campaign on-line for the second Terrifier film! I've never seen anything like this. Leone was able to raise enough funds for a theatrical release and the catch was the more money the film made in theaters, the more theaters would be able to show this film! So, with a $250,000 budget, the film would gross over $15 million! This made enough to warrant a third film!

As of right now, "Terrifier 3" has grossed $20 million off a $2 Million budget! Truly the only independent film of it's kind! I love supporting cinema like this, even if I'm not a huge fan of these films. The slasher film series takes a supernatural turn this time around with a Christmas horror twist! The plot is interesting (if a bit thin) involving Art's friend being used a vessel for Satan (or a demon of some kind) so he can piece himself together to keep his killing spree going all the while the survivors of the second Terrifier film are either trying to move on or wanting to stop Art The Clown for good! Obviously, these two worlds will collide with extremely bloody results!

Yes, this film has disturbing gore and unless you're a fan of that, you will most likely not enjoy it. The horror kills are creative, if being quite excessive! With an over two hour running time, the film's gory sequences dragged on (for me anyways). I hoped Leone would focus more on Art's demonic powers and Sienna's relationship with her father (we get ONE flashback). It's OK, but a better gore, story balance would've improved this film.
