The Best Horror Films Of All Time

We're in the midst of the spooky season and if you're looking for some scary movies to watch, Variety has created a list for the top 100 horror films of all time! If you want to browse to see of your favorites made the list, click here!:

Here are some of my favorite horror films:

"Peeping Tom" (Directed by Michael Powell) & "Psycho" (Directed by Alfred Hitchcock) both were released within a couple of months of each other in 1960! These two films would unofficially start the "Slasher" horror sub-genre that would explode in the late 70's and continue steadily through today! Listen to our conversation about these films by clicking here!

"The Wicker Man", "The Exorcist", "Don't Look Now", & "Messiah Of Evil" were all released in 1973! They were all different from one another and all tackled different emotions & issues. If you're looking to be shocked & scared, you may already be familiar with "The Exorcist" & perhaps "Don't Look Now", but the original "Wicker Man" starring Christopher Lee (not Nicolas Cage) & the little seen cult classic "Messiah Of Evil" will not disappoint! If you want to hear our discussion on "The Wicker Man", then listen here!

There's a another adaptation of "Nosferatu" that will be hitting theatres in December (Another new adaption will hit streaming soon as well)! I highly recommend the original "Nosferatu" from 1922 & "Nosferatu The Vampyre" from 1979! Both are extremely creepy & unsettling in many ways. We discussed both versions and you check that out by clicking here!

The classic pre-code horror/drama, "Freaks" (1932) is STILL disturbing, unsettling & controversial 90 plus years later! The film was a box office disaster in it's day but has since grown a HUGE cult following and is now considered one of the greatest and important films ever made! Listen to our discussion of this classic by clicking here!

There are films out there that are truly more disturbing than so-called "Horror Films"! If the typical horror film doesn't scare you and you want to be shocked or disturbed, then look no further than Park Chan-wook's "The Vengeance Trilogy" (2002-2005). Each one of these films will stay with you forever! They are not for all tastes, but if you want to be horrified and scared out of your comfort zone (literally) then I 100% recommend you watch! We discussed the most popular of the "Vengeance Trilogy", "Oldboy" and you can listen here!
