Vinyl records are now outselling Compact Discs!!!

For the first time since 1987...Vinyl albums are actually outselling CDs. The vinyl record album was first introduced by RCA in 1930 and by the 1950's had become the standard method for listening to prerecorded music. By the 1970's...Vinyl albums began to receive some competition from Eight Track Tapes and Cassettes as well but they never really challenged the supremacy of the vinyl album. However...In 1983...Compact Discs were introduced into the US market. And by 1984...Numerous US FM Rock stations had installed CD Players into their studios to demonstrate what was considered a cutting edge technology to their listeners. But with the cost of CD Players averaging around $1000.00 in 1983 and 1984...The technology was still somewhat slow to take off. But by 1985...CD sales were spiking and by 1988...CD sales finally overtook vinyl records. By 1990...Vinyl records had almost entirely disappeared from music stores...as consumers seemed to shift to the newer technology. Throughout the 1990's...a few bands such as Pearl Jam continued to insist on having some of their albums released on vinyl in addition to Compact Discs...which had become the standard for prerecorded music by that time. However...beginning in 2007...for the first time...The sale of vinyl records actually began to increase. Initially...this was dismissed as somewhat of a fluke. But with each proceeding year after that...the sale of vinyl records continued to increase...And by the first half of 2023...Vinyl record sales were outpacing the sales of CD's by a drastic margin. In fact...by that time...Vinyl record sales were responsible for 72% of all non-digital prerecorded music sales...
